SO THIS IS TOTALLY NOT MY FAULT.
I was talking to a friend, as you do, and somehow we got into the idea of LoK/Disney crossovers with some hearty laughs being had at the idea (notably, Amon would overthrow monarchies left and right, because reasons), and suddenly they tell me, “YOU SHOULD DRAW TARRLOK/ESMERALDA!”
“That doesn’t even make any fucking sense,” says I.
“Who cares, draw it anyway!”
So there you go.
Thing I regret most about this picture: not getting to draw Tarrlok's ponytails properly.

It could work. It would bend the film we know, but maybe Tarrlok is rewritten in the film to be some equivalent of a business tycoon or politician of the time period (Whatever it is, that France would have at the time) who just so happens to have some Gypsy descent.
He comes to the festival, but moreso, maintains a presence on the sidelines, enjoying the festival, remembering how it was like years ago, "Time never changes..."
Then the scene progresses to Esmeralda arguing with Frollo, calling for freedom, and he is absolutely taken at her spirit.
